Photography by Sandrine Castellan

Capturing her world through a lens has been her obsession ever since she started photographing at the age of 14: “- I started photographing at 14. I was mostly taking pictures of my friends and spending all my free time in the dark room at school. Then I switched to video as I had to specialize, and Photography was not an option in my school… So I became more obsessed with motion pictures rather than static pictures. After graduation I went back to photography and fashion came to me naturally after few years of experimenting different aspects of photography. I have been shooting professional fashion photography for almost 2 years now.

Sandrine Castellan is based out of NYC and Montreal, and has had her work featured in publications such as Papier Mache, Darizine, Snap!, and Contributor magazine in the short time she’s been shooting professionally. Apart from the works of other photographers such as Lina Scheynius, Sofia Coppola, Mark Borthwick, Inez and Vinoodh, she says her main inspiration comes from contemporary and ballet dance, music and cinema: “- Usually those three mediums move me, surprise me and intrigue me the most. There is a power and an intensity that I hardly find somewhere else and that I try to apply to my photography work.

Here’s some of her work:
