Chiaroscuro by Fabiana and Carlo Nicora

Fabiana and Carlo Nicora have been a couple for more than a decade, and make out a solid creative team. But it wasn’t until they left sunny Italy for creative London they found the true joy of photography: “- Here we managed to kickstart our photography dream,” they say. Even though London is great, they took it back to the roots when shooting their first Ben Trovato exclusive, Chiaroscuro: “- We have always loved the romantic and mysterious feeling that only Venice has and we wanted to portray the contrast between the peculiar, conservative landscape of a unique city and its natural chiaroscuro with an intense, almost military fashion. Contrasts of light and garments, landscapes and feelings.

Chiaroscuro features Polina Chevan @ 2morrow model Milan, with hair and make up by Mika Hurukawa, and styled by Kati Brugnoli using a lot of her own unique designs.

Fabiana and Carlo say they find inspiration for their work in people and their emotions, and explains: “- The perfect image, for us, has very little to do with the technical side of it and more with the human involvement. We mainly share the same vision - with a personal twist of course - but essentially we both look for a particular something in the eyes of our subjects that makes them beautiful and unique. We love and are inspired by the work of Ellen Von Unwerth, Helmut Newton and Tony Duran.

The duo is learning and growing creatively rapidly and looking to embrace the adventure of advertising, of which they love both the business and creative challenge. “- We started the convergence between video and stills and being a team both in life as in photography it is a huge advantage because we use each others’ strengths to make sure that the future is now.”
