Looking For Answers by MarquisMontes

Montreal based fashion photography duo MarquisMontes has produced another amazing editorial for Ben Trovato. Valérie Boulet and Jose Enrique Montes Hernandez’ story, entitled Looking For Answers, features beautiful Samantha from Montage Models, and was shot in Chinatown in Montreal. A location that provided most of the inspiration for the shoot: “- The location was the starting point of our inspiration. There is something special about micro-societies in large cities and Chinatown was the perfect setting for the evolution of our character who found herself in likely, but odd situations,” the partners say, and continues: “- We mostly wanted to achieve a kind of eeriness, images that at first glance are simply pretty pictures, but once you take the time to examine them they convey something you can’t quite put your finger on. The protagonist of this moment in time had to have a certain innocence, but had to dually deliver an off putting feel.

Stylist Ve Goguen did a great job last time MarquisMontes shot a story for Ben Trovato, and was brought on the team this time around as well. And yet again she did a fabulous job. She had this to say about the shoot: “- The shoot was really a pleasure to style since it was all about revealing the darkness of the character while keeping her chic yet mysterious. The wardrobe was inspired by witchy elements translated in a streetstyle look. I have an obsession with black so the outfits consisted of all black while playing with variations in the textures like leather, lace, knit, silk.

Boulet and Hernandez say the whole team was pulling together well on the set: “- The team composed of Vé Goguen (stylist) and Dominique T. Hasbani (mua) @ Gloss Agency was great, seeing that this was a location shoot, always a little more tedious than studio shoots, everyone was a real trouper. Changing in the back of our rented van, makeup touch ups on the side of the street, even climbing on landmark statues…the team made it work! Ve is our always ready, hands on stylist who works on most of our projects(including ‘Lola’ featured on BT). It was our first time working with Dominique for hair and makeup and she was excellent at her craft and a pleasure to work with!” they say, before praising Samantha: “- Samantha is a true delight. It is not very often that you encounter such a striking girl with the personality to match her looks…and she’s got it all, in spades!
