Brussels based photographer Hicham RIad says he was saved by photography while finding himself unhappy studying business: “- Since I was a child, I’ve had this necessity of creation, to pass from the realm of emotion on to the tangible. And photography allows me to do that, to be able to capture a reality in which space and time are melted into one. I fulfills me.”
He says he’s inspired by film, music and other art, and of course his best friends Cartier-Bresson and Robert Frank, but in the moment of shooting the model is what inspires him: “- When I take a picture I feel like my head gets empty, and ultimately, it’s primarily and perhaps exclusively the photographed subject that inspires me.”
At the moment Hicham’s working on Brussels store Hunting and Collecting’s SS11 shoot together with Belgian model Hannelore Knuts.
