Inertia by Giovanni Martins

Giovanni Martins has been shooting for about 4 years, after getting into photography at the Willem de Kooning academy in the Netherlands when studying Lifestyle and Design: “- I was interested in the fashion photography part of the course, more than anything else,” he says. After completing the school in Netherlands he continued his education in London at London College of Fashion, where he graduated with a degree in Fashion Photography.

In the four years of shooting he’s had his work published in publications such as Real magazine, Jessica Joyce, Idol mag, Amfi magazine, and Supperclub, and today he’s making his debut on Ben Trovato. Inertia by Giovanni Martins is a dark story featuring models Ruby Slate Balthazar and Dany Mack, styled by Paku Sukuda, and with make up by Takahiro M.

Giovanni says this about the story: “- ‘Inertia’ is inspired by ‘death’ but not in the cliche sense of the word, think darkness, decay, suffocation and cancercells, these are a few topics that are highlighted in this story,

He generally finds inspiration in the works of talented designers and photography, both established and up and coming:”- Imagery from photographers such as Inez van Lamsweerde and Erwin Olaf always get my attention and inspire me to push my own boundaries. Collections of designers such as Viktor & Rolf, Gareth Pugh are always very conceptual and are amongst my favorites.
