Color Me In by Kathryna Hancock

Los Angeles based photographer Kathryna Hancock got into photography in high school, and got herself a part time job so that she could fund her habit and build a darkroom in her garage. Now she’s ready to make her mark on the fashion photography stage, and today she’s debuting on Ben Trovato with the vibrant exclusive Color Me In featuring Amanda from Photogenics and Sarah from Click. The two wonderful models were styled by Sharon Williams, had their hair done by Jayson Medina, and makeup by Juanita Lyon.

Kathryna says this about the story: “- My goal for this shoot was to do something kitschy-with bright colors and lots of patterns. I also wanted to play with androgyny a little bit, so we picked models that would sort of blur the lines.

On a general basis Kathryna has found inspiration more in fashion videos than anything else lately: “- Gemma Booth makes some great videos, and I really loved Prada’s Spring/Summer 2011 campaign video. As far as specific photographer’s go, there are so many that I follow and love, from the crazy and free work of Ryan Mcginley to the highly produced, but often quirky Richard Burbridge.

Tainted Love by Mario Peña

NYC and LA based photographer Mario Peña has gone from strength to strength after his debut on Ben Trovato about a year ago, a feature that actually lead to a great collaboration with Elite Model Management in NYC. Now he’s back with his first ever exclusive for us, the warm and vibrant Tainted Love. The story features the beautiful Katie Flanigan with Click LA, who was styled by Van Van Picz, and had make up done by Devin Joplin.

Mario says this about the story: “- The inspiration for the story comes from two sources, an interesting love story that I had in NY, and the song “If I Had A Heart” by Fever Ray.

On a general basis, Mario gets his inspiration from movies, music, love and life, and he always keeps his note book close to note down ideas that might pop up.
