Byron Bay based creative Sybil Steele made her debut on Ben Trovato little over two years ago, with her brilliant collaboration with clothing brand Spell & The Gypsy Collective entitled Freedom In Solitude. Today she’s back with another amazing story for us. Summer Fade features the gorgeous Hanalei Reponty, who’s not a stranger to the avid Ben Trovato follower.
We had a little chat with Sybil about her latest addition to BT:
Could you say a few words about Summer Fade?
We shot it just on the cusp of when summer was turning into autumn here in Australia. We wanted chunky knits and textured capes to bring on a bit of the change of season. We used all local designers which was a first for me and I love the way stylist Marisa Sidoti pulled it all together.
Hanalei looks astonishing, have you worked together before?
I have worked with Hanalei before for the Mikoh Swim campaign last year in Gili Trawangan. We've also worked together on several ecommerce product shoots. She’s one of my favorite models to work with. She happen to be coming through town with her family and it was a quick decision to shoot that we pulled together in a few days. I love working with her because not only is she gorgeous and unique, but she’s graceful, smart, athletic and really easy going. I suppose that comes from her Tahitian wave riding upbringing and very cool parents.
How about the rest of your team? Have you worked together before?
My team consists of Wesley Mitton who is amazing on hair and recently relocated to Byron Bay. He has great ideas and can create anything. Makeup Ashlea Penfold who is one of my favorites to work with. She’s always ready to collaborate and we have done a lot together the last couple of years.Stylist Marisa Sidoti and I have worked on a few magazine editorials, some music videos and much more. My assistant Kuni Takanami is a great photographer in his own right and is always helping me navigate the great outdoors as we usually shoot on location.
