Occultist

It’s Halloween at Ben Trovato, and in between dodging witches and zombies, drinking blood, and scaring the kids that knock on the door, we want to make sure our faithful followers get a true Halloween experience this year as well. Earlier today Julie Brass shook your bones with a story in our Diary, and now we’re revealing another treat for you. This year, as last, Billy Rood has shot a Halloween story for Ben Trovato, and in the spirit of true tradition, he’s created an incredibly creepy piece.

Occultist is a tale about a strong woman with absolute control over two men. “The idea of that power and control was really fun to interpret with the guys because I wanted it to feel that the female character had their lives in her hands,” Rood explains, adding: “I wanted to show that in a beautiful and dark way.

Bryn at Ford plays the main character, dominating Joel & Josh, also at Ford. “Bryn is amazing to work with. She’s absolutely one of my favorite models I’ve ever worked with. She’s so young, beautiful and fearless. She comes off very unassuming but when she’s in front of the camera she becomes another creature,” Rood says.

I call her a creature because she can do anything. From dancing awkwardly, being cute, innocent to haunted and wicked. She inspires me.

Rood says that also the male models were a pleasure to work with, praising them for trusting his vision: “- I had them trying new things as well and they went for it. It’s always the best to work with people that are open to trying new things without hesitation and go for it. Plus they have great personalities and are very easy to work with.

Favia was the stylist, as he was on Rood’s last Halloween story, and Lia Rivette did hair and makeup. “Mike (Stylist) and I have worked together many times. We are always creatively on the same level and it’s nice to have someone who gets what you are going for and also pushes it. Working with Lia was amazing as well. It was our first time working together but just her excitement and energy around the ideas we were doing really added to the shoot,” Rood tells us.

Favia says his styling was inspired by puritan Mennonites and a little bit by Tim Burton and Victorian Lolita’s.
