Lazy Days by Luc Braquet

It’s almost two years ago since we introduced the Ben Trovato readership to French photographer and art director Luc Braquet‘s work. Since then he’s already shot a story for us, and had a frame featured in our One Frame Fame section. Today he’s back with another beautiful editorial, shot in Cape Town featuring models Jadyn (@ Vision) and Candice (@ Boss), entitled Lazy Days.

Luc says he doesn’t want to over explain the concept too much, and wants to leave the story telling to the actual pictures.

I think that when you travel, you can find inspiration everywhere…you just have to breathe with your eyes..” Luc says when I asks him about his inspiration, and adds: “I think this kind of inspiration is something that is very hard to get in your own city..”

This time around his travels took him to Cape Town, where he finally got to work with stylist Lucy Hundy again: “- I had the pleasure to work with Lucy Hundy 2years ago in Cape Town too, so when we met again this year we decided directly to shoot together again.

The story includes an intriguing behind the scenes video shot by the talented director and filmmaker Ariaan Louw, who Luc connected with right before his arrival in South Africa: “- We have the same vision about photography as you can see in his making of. It was important for me to work with someone who can keep the same mood in video as the shoot I did. Today he’s a friend and we will work again together soon.

The models Jadyn and Candice were also a dream to work with, and Luc explains that his technique leaves no margin for communication error: “- They understood what I expected quickly, and it’s not easy because I shot analog so I can’t ‘burst shoot’ like with digital - every picture have to be the one. I always contextualize my shots, I ask a lot of investment and focus from my models, it’s a little bit more about acting than modeling…
