La Li Bella by Amanda Fordyce

About a year ago Amanda Fordyce made her debut on Ben Trovato shooting Jade Jackson who then went on to do campaigns for H&M, walking for major fashion brands including Vivienne Westwood, and editorials in magazines such as Elle, Vogue Germany, Vs, and L’Officiel. You can safely say she was spot on when fending the right face to shoot.

This time around she’s done it again. With a breathtaking story featuring arising star Claire Collins, she again made sure our jaws dropped in synchronized motion when the pictures reached our office. Claire Collins has already shot a few great campaigns, walked the runway for Chanel in Paris last year, and Rachel Zoe last season in New York. “Claire was her true, professional self, so it was probably one of the quickest, most successful shoots I’ve done. I chose the late afternoon golden light that I love meaning we only a short time to shoot everything, and she nailed it,” Amanda tells us. Claire’s represented by Chadwicks in Melbourne, and by IMG Worldwide in Paris, Milan, London and New York. “Claire is not only a super fun chick to work with, but believe she’s killing it at a career that has only just begun! Meeting Karl Lagerfeld and being booked for Chanel Couture as her first fashion show ever….pretty damn good.

A big thank you must also go to Katie at Chadwicks who always comes up with the goods when it comes to models!

The story is entitled La Li Bella, and is “paying homage to an old Hollywood glamour pool scene in a modern context,” as stylist Kate Carnegie so eloquently put it.

The team collaborated with the talented Zoe Weir who designed all the beautiful outfits for her collection Zoe Elizabeth. “With her quintessential Liberty prints, hand printed silks and lycra’, plus feminine, classic cuts….we had the perfect location in mind. The Beverly Hills Apartments were built in the 1920′s during the Great Depression, so used various material from old mansions giving it a mismatched, and uniquely glamorous look. It’s a place known mostly to locals, which I love, because it’s like a magical art deco style pocket of Melbourne but also reminds me of LA’s opulent, Chateau Marmont with its enticing swimming pool set against leafy green surrounds. But most importantly, the Beverly Hills Apartments is home to a good buddy of mine, Tobe. It’s somewhere that both Zoe and myself have visited frequently and have shared the same desire to shoot there one day. I like to call it, Tobe’s Wonderland,” Amanda explains.

She continues to tell us the shoot was the “perfect example of what I love about photography, which is having the opportunity to work with passionate artists, shooting beautiful people and fashion, in a stunning location. It was the first time working with this particular team. Loved working with Zoe and her designs, Rosa on hair, Ash on make up, and Kate, our stylist, did a fantastic job selecting the perfect pieces to compliment each shot I had in mind.

Hopefully we’ll see much more of Amanda’s work on Ben Trovato in the future.
